The slowest moving particle

Answer to Problem 1CQ
Solution:
Waves moving in figure (c) are moving most slowly.
Explanation of Solution
Given info:
The de Broglie waves of three equal mass particles are shown
Formula used:
De- Broglie wavelength of matter waves is given by
Speed of the wave is given by
The speed of the wave is directly proportional to frequency.
From the figure, the frequency of figure (a) and (b) are equal and more than figure (c).
So the frequency is least in figure (c).
According to the formula of speed of wave in equation (ii), the speed of particle in figure (c) is least.
Conclusion:
From the above explanation, the speed of particle in figure (a) and (b) is same and speed of particle (c) is least among the three.
