Concept explainers
To complete: The given sentence.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Energy possessed by a body when it is at rest potential energy. In other words, energy possessed by a body when it is not moving is called potential energy.
A force of attraction between two objects that have masses is called gravitational potential energy. Gravitational potential energy is calculated as product of mass, gravity and height. Therefore, if height is changed, gravitational potential energy will also change. On moving the book from a higher shelf to a lower shelf, height changes. As height changes, the gravitational potential energy also changes.
Conclusion:
The given sentence can be completed with gravitational potential energy.
