Introduction

In order to survive in the wild, animals who are closer to the bottom of the food chain—in other words, those who are at high risk from predators—must develop remarkable survival tools and habits in order to keep themselves from going extinct. This cannot be done overnight. It can take millions and millions of years for these tools, habits, and instincts to evolve to ensure survival of the species.
