Purpose of the GOTO table of an LR parser:
LR parser is a table driven parser and the table has two components- ACTION table and GOTO table.
- As the name suggests the entries in this table decide to which state the parser should go next.
- Rows of the GOTO table are labeled with states and columns are labeled with non-terminal symbols in the grammar.
- The values of GOTO table indicates the state symbol which needed to be pushed into the stack after a reduce action.
- In a reduce action the symbols on the top of stack which represents a handle is popped out and a new terminal is pushed (LHS of handle) back to the stack...
