Protocol:
In a network system a protocol is defined as the set of rules by the help of which several activities are performed. The rules defined a way to deal with the steps taken to perform a task.
There are three protocols used in this chapter:
- Transmission control protocol(TCP)
- Internet protocol(IP)
- Hypertext transfer protocol(HTTP)

Explanation of Solution
Protocol:
The protocol deals with the interactions of various entities that are connected for the purpose of communication. The development of protocol standards is an indispensable process in the development of networking technologies.
The protocols are there for all the levels of the network model for communication and each layer of the network model uses various protocols to perform the task.
Types of protocols:
The below are the three types of protocols:
- Transmission control protocol (TCP): Transmission control protocol consists of set of rules to share the messages with one level in the transport layer to the other levels.
- Internet protocol (IP): Internet protocol consists of the set of rules that govern the data sent over the internet and the other networks. It is the method by which the data is sent from one system to another system by the use of internet as a medium.
- Hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP): Hypertext transfer protocol consists of the set of rules that are used to transfer the files on World Wide Web. HTTP is a type of application protocol that operates on the TCP/IP mode of protocol.
