Explanation of Solution
The ovaries are paired structures that release the ovum. They are held in position by three ligaments namely the broad ligament (double layer of the peritoneum), ovarian ligament (on superior medial side of each ovary), and the suspensory ligaments (superior lateral side of each ovary). The ovum released from the ovary reaches the uterus through the uterine or fallopian tube. The three important parts of the uterine tube are the infundibulum, ampulla, and isthmus. The infundibulum is funnel shaped and distal part of the uterus gives rise to finger like projections called the fimbriae.
