Summary Introduction

To fill:

The correct term in the given blank.

Introduction:

Antigens are glycoproteins found on the cell membrane of red blood cells, and they are usually genetically inherited. There are many types of different antigens present on the red blood cell’s membrane. Therefore, depending on the type of antigen present or absent on the cell surface membrane, various blood grouping systems have been discovered. Only two systems have been proven to be of clinical importance, they are ABO blood group and Rhesus (Rh) blood groups. Since these two systems help in determining the antigens that cause blood transfusion reactions.
