Question
Chapter 37, Problem 15TYU
Summary Introduction
To Explain: How a footprint food affects the properties of soil and the effect of these changes on soil microorganisms and seedlings.
Concept Introduction: Foot traffic can cause soil compaction, which means increased density of soil, reduced air volume, and reduced drain off surplus water. Soil compaction reduces the spaces between soil particles, which forces plants to work harder for their survival. It generally results in lack of water, nutrition, and air at plant roots.

Discuss the following prompt:
In this experiment, we are looking to see how much different types of soil will affect the time it takes for pinto Bean seedlings to germinate out of the ground. The scientific name of a pinto bean is Phaseolus vulgaris. Pinto beans are kind of beans people usually eating, and people commonly use pinto beans in many dishes, such as rice and pasta. Planting pinto beans need many necessary factors, however, I think the type of soil is the most important one to grow it faster. Pinto beans are kind of plants can grow in dark and dry area, so even in dark (less light), they can grow as well. The goal is to determine that soils have different characteristics that can help or hurt plant growth.
In order to discover the effects soils have on plant growth, three different soil samples will be used in a controlled study. The samples will vary in consistency, texture, color, location, moisture, and contact with human life to ensure that the samples are…
emphasized how plastic and adaptable plants are in their environment. Write an essay touching on this concept.
The first paragraph should be broad and discuss why plants must be more adaptable to their environment compared to other organisms, such as animals. Discuss if adaptation is or is not genetically determined and/or heritable.
The second paragraph should provide a specific examples of how plants have adapted to stress. This portion needs to be in depth, and discuss both an abiotic and biotic stress.

What are the most important effects of parent material on soil?arrow_forwardWhy is clay a challenging soil for plants to grow into? Group of answer choices The field capacity point is really low, causing water to seep through the soil quickly Both the wilting point and field capacity are really low, causing the soil to be immediately oversaturated The distance between field capacity and wilting point is extremely small, which makes the plants highly susceptible to changes in precipitation It has a high wilting point, a lot of rain has to fall before plants can access the waterarrow_forwardBy choosing any 2 of the following topics/systems, discuss how does the animal and plant (name the animal and plant) works in maintaining their function in an environmental stress (name the stress) mentioned above. a) Transport System b) Digestive System c) Respiratory System d) Excretory Systemarrow_forward
