The red muscle fibers are the skeletal muscles that are rich in capillaries, myoglobin, and mitochondria. Capillaries deliver oxygen to the muscles, and oxygen is taken up by the protein called myoglobin. The myoglobin helps the mitochondria to provide the oxygen. Mitochondria use oxygen to produce energy.
