Concept introduction:

The process of formation of haploid gametes is known as gametogenesis. In this process, the diploid or haploid cells undergo cell division and form gametic cells. The gametogenesis might involve meiosis (in case of diploids) or mitosis (in case of haploids). The spermatogenesis is the process of formation of sperms or male gametes. The oogenesis is the process of formation of an ovum or the female gametes
