Cytoskeleton forms the framework of a cell in the same way as the skeleton of the body. It is a network of tiny filaments and rods. It consists of microtubules and microfilaments. Microtubules are hollow and thin cylinders made up of protein. Microfilaments are smaller, solid protein fiber.
