Introduction:
Lacrimal apparatus contains some orbital structures for production and drainage of tear. The tears are produced by the lacrimal gland. The fluid is conveyed to the eye surface by the excretory ducts. This helps in removal of waste, maintaining moisture, and lubrication.

The structure of lacrimal apparatus is labeled in the figure.
Lacrimal gland is the tear producing part of lacrimal apparatus that secretes serous fluid and sent to superior fornix which is a space between eyeball and eye lids.There are two lacrimal canal in lacrimal apparatus that is superior lacrimal canal and inferior lacrimal canal. These canals open in medial corner of the eye with puncta lacrima from where tears drainage system begins.Lacrimal sac is a nasolacrimal ducts dilated portion present between lacrimal bone and frontal process of maxilla.Nasolacrimal duct is the final part lacrimal apparatus which opens into nasal cavity, mainly into inferior nasal meatus. The fluid drains finally into this duct.
