Chapter 31, Problem 15TYK
Summary Introduction

To review:

The experimental design to test the hypothesis that the cuticle of parasitic nematodes provides the protection from the acids and enzymes when reach in the digestive system of the host.

Introduction:

The nematodes are enclosed in an exoskeleton which is known as cuticle. The presence of cuticle is the structural key for the success and diversity of nematode species. The outermost layer of the cells in nematodes is covered from a complex extracellular matrix (cuticle). Cuticle plays an important role in maintaining the body shape, movement and functions as the primary interface with the outer environment. The cuticle helps in protection from the host digestive system.

Summary Introduction

To review:

The detailed plan for altering the plant’s growth and reproductive characteristics.

Introduction:

Plant breeders play key role by focusing on desirable traits with great potential to increase plant yield. Hence, new technologies must be developed to accelerate breeding through improving genotyping and phenotyping methods and by increasing the genetic diversity in breeding germplasm. Marker Assisted Selection (MAS) is a marker technology used for specific phenotype chromosomal banding, a particular DNA or RNA motif, or a chemical tag that associates with the desired trait.

There is a species of eagle, which lives in a tropical forest in Brazil. The alula pattern of its wings is determined by a single autosomal gene with four alleles that exhibit an unknown hierarchy of dominance. Genetic testing shows that individuals 1-1, 11-4, 11-7, III-1, and III-4 are each homozygous. How many possible genotypes among checkered eagles in the population?
