Taste buds present on the tongue play an important role in making tongue as one of the five sensory organs. The taste buds present on the tongue act as chemoreceptors that regulate the food choice of a person. The taste bud converts the chemical signal into neural signal and transmits it to the somatosensory cortex for processing.
