Introduction

Our five senses form the basis of perception. Using these senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell), we experience the world around us. The specifics of how we experience the world, and the reason we all experience it slightly differently is due to our differing perceptions of events happening around us. Taste is, of course, sensed in the mouth. Specifically, taste cells in the taste buds of the tongue sense different qualities which we perceive as “flavor.”
