Introduction

The human ear can sense frequencies ranging from a very low pitch of only 20 Hz up to about 20,000 Hz for higher frequencies, which result in higher pitched sounds. However, there are different theories that explain the way we perceive pitch in different ranges along this spectrum: the volley principle, place theory, and frequency theory.
