Closing Entries:
Closing entries are entries passed in the books of account for closing the books at the end of the accounting period. Closing entries involve transfer of balance from temporary accounts such as revenue and expense account to permanent account by creating a transitional account, income summary account.
Income Summary Account:
Income summary account is an account created at the closing of accounting period where the closing balances of revenue and expense from income statement account are shifted in order to compute the net balance of revenue and expenses. The net balance of this account is transferred to capital account. Hence it ensures that balance of the next accounting period appear zero.
