The influences of the patient’s age on the effects of drugs and drug responses.
Introduction:
The human body changes in several ways from the date of birth till death. Drugs play important roles in the different phases of pharmacokinetics. The changes in the four phases of pharmacokinetics are mainly due to the effect of drug distribution, absorption, excretion, and
Explanation of Solution
The influence of the drugs is an age-related factor of pharmacokinetics. The drug effect is classified into four phases such as absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. The influence of the drugs is more sensitive to the pediatric age and the older age.
The drug dosage level is calculated in milligrams per body weight. The response study of the drug is carried age between the 13 to 65 years old peoples. About 75% of the drug is not approved by food and drug administration (FDA) for the use of pediatric. Thus, there is a lack of drug response toward the use of the drug to neonates and children. These are the major influences of the drug on the patient’s age.
Thus, the pharmacokinetics plays a major impact on the drug with the age-related factor.
