Case summary:
The nursing student is caring for a 65-year-old male patient Mr. L, who is dying of lung cancer. The Mr. L daughters brought the patient from China to the United States, stating the U.S medicine can cure him, but the patient’s condition did not improve and it is worsening. The patient is unable to speak for himself, and Mr. L daughters did not allow removal of a ventilator or issued do-not-resuscitate order. The patient’s daughters wanted to try acupuncture on the patient but the health care provider did not allow the CHA. Hence, the student nurse must step in to take the necessary actions.
