The process how a signal is carried across the synaptic cleft.

Given:

Synapse is a tiny gap between the neurons.

Introduction:

A synapse is the function between the neurons which provides the contacts and communication with another neuron or any other cell type. German scientist Otto Loewi discovered the chemical transmitter acetylcholine which was used as signaling molecule between the synapses. Information in the form of chemical signals tends to flow in unidirectional pathway from a neuron to its target cell. The information which send signals are said to be pre-synaptic while the target which receive the signal is the post synaptic.
