They mainly include factors such as any essential requirements, lack of which could lead to a decline in population, for example, food, nutrients, and space. Certain interactions such as predation and competition also arise due to rise in population and thus form a part of the density-dependent resistance.
Density-independent resistance acts independently from population density. They mainly include natural disasters and extreme climatic changes, which lead to drastic effects on population size. For example, flood, fire, storm, drought, habitat destruction, and freezing.
