Explanation Counter current mechanism is the process that takes place in the kidney in order to concentrate the urine. The condition, in which this concentration mechanism does not take place and the person does not take a large amount of fluid, dehydration and low blood pressure are observed. This process results in a progressively increase in the osmotic gradient in the interstitial fluid present in the renal medulla.
