Question
Chapter 24, Problem 3TC
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The reason for the inability of the individuals with translocation to have children.
Introduction:
Translocation refers to the transfer of a segment of one chromosome to another chromosome. There are two types of translocation- reciprocal translocation (two non-homologous chromosomes exchange segments) and Robertsonian translocation (entire chromosome attaches to another at its centromere). Though both the types of translocations do not pose any effect phenotypically, the alteration in the genetic material in the affected individual causes infertility problems.
