Database table design for storing people and cars details:

Query 1:

Consider the below SQL statement, creates a table called “Person”.

/* create a table called person */

CREATE TABLE Person

(

Owner_Name VARCHAR(40),

Driving_License_Number CHAR(20),

Address VARCHAR(100)

);

Explanation:

 In the above query,  

• A table “Person” has been created using “CREATE TABLE” statement.
• The table contains three fields “Owner_Name”, “Driving_License_Number” and “Address” to store the name of the owner, unique driver license number, and address respectively.
• The datatypes “VARCHAR” and “CHAR” specifies the nature of data the fields can hold.

Query 2:

Consider the below SQL statement, creates a table called “Car”.

/* create a table called car */

CREATE TABLE Car

(

Vehicle_Identification_No INTEGER,

Owner_License CHAR(20),

Manufacturer_Name VARCHAR(30),

Type VARCHAR(16),

Year INTEGER

);

Explanation:

In the above query,

• A table “Car” has been created using “CREATE TABLE” statement.
• The table contains five fields “Vehicle_Identification_No”, “Owner_License”, “Manufacturer_Name”, “Type”, and “Year” to store the unique vehicle identification number, owner license, name of manufacturer, type, and year respectively.
• The datatypes “VARCHAR”, “INTEGER”, and “CHAR” specifies the nature of data the fields can hold.
