Introduction:
In the whole of the human body, the kidneys take about only 0.4% of the total body weight. Yet about 1.2 liters of the blood is received by the kidneys per minute. The renal artery nourishes both the kidneys. The renal artery is distributed into segmental arteries before arriving at the hilum. The segmental arteries give rise to interlobar arteries. These interlobar arteries breach both of the renal columns and journeys between the borders of cortex and medulla. This junction is called as the corticomedullary junction. The interlobar arteries gives off arcuate arteries, and it takes a 90° turn and moves at the base of the pyramid. Numerous cortical radiate arteries are given off by the arcuate arteries, which enters into the cortex. The afferent and efferent arterioles are raised at the cortex region.
