The market basket used to calculate the CPI in Aquilonia is 4 loaves of bread, 6 gallons of milk, 2 shirts, and 2 pairs of pants. In 2005, bread cost $1.00 per loaf, milk cost $1.50 per gallon, shirts cost $6.00 each, and pants cost $10.00 per pair. In 2006, bread cost $1.50 per loaf, milk cost $2.00 per gallon, shirts cost $7.00 each, and pants cost $12.00 per pair. Using 2005 as the base year, what was Aquilonia’s inflation rate in 2006?

The price tag on a tennis ball in 1975 read $0.10, and the price tag on a tennis ball in 2005 read $1.00. The CPI in 1975 was 52.3, and the CPI in 2005 was 191.3. Refer to Scenario 24-1. The price of a 1975 tennis ball in 2005 dollars is Question 2 options: $0.03. $0.27. $0.37. $1.00.
Consider the following basket of student essentials:
2019 2020
Burritos $6.30 $6.60
Pizzas $9.90 $10.00
Movie Tickets $10.00 $10.50
Energy Drinks $4.99 $5.99
a. Using 2019 as the base year, what is the CPI in 2019?
b. Assume students buy 30 burritos, 25 pizzas, 15 movie tickets, and 200 energy drinks each year. What is the CPI in 2020 using 2019 as a base year? What is the inflation rate? Would this rate be higher or lower if students bought more energy drinks?

- lwk I K The following table shows the top 10 films of all time through January 2021, measured by box office receipts in the United States, as well as several other notable films farther down the list. The CPI in 2020 was 259. Use this information and the data in the table to calculate the box office receipts for each film in 2020 dollars. Assume that each film generated all of its box office receipts during the year it was released. Use your results to prepare a new list of the top 10 films, based on their earnings in 2020 dollars. (Some of the films, such as the first Star Wars film, Gone with the Wind, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, were re-released several times, so their receipts were actually eamed during several different years, but we will ignore that complication.)
