Formula to calculate the refraction angle at the first surface of the prism is,

θ1r=sin1(nasinθ1ing)

Here,

θ1iandθ1r are the incident and refraction angle at the first surface

naandng are the refractive index of air and glass

Substitute 1 for na , 1.66 for ng , 50° for θ1i to find θ1r .

θ1r=sin1((1)sin(50)1.66)=27.5°

Calculating the value of the angle (α) is,
