Concept introduction:
In female reproductive system, the uterus is a muscular hollow organ located in the pelvic cavity between the bladder and the rectum. A fertilized egg implants itself in the endometrium lining of the uterus. The prime function of the uterus is to nurture the developing fetus till birth. One of the major changes in pregnancy is the increase in uterus and its contents (placenta, the amniotic fluid, and growing fetus).
