Summary Introduction
Natural selection is a mechanism in which the organisms with favorable traits are found to be more likely to reproduce. In doing so, these traits have been passed on to the next generation. As a result, the proportion of organisms with adaptive characteristics in a given environment survives better and increases with each generation. It is the only process that regularly causes adaptive evolution.
