Semiconductors:
Semiconductors are elements that conduct electricity at elevated temperatures because in the semiconductors elements, the electrons can cross the energy gap only at high temperatures. Therefore, conductivity of semiconductors increases with increasing temperatures as many electrons can able to reach the conduction band rapidly at elevated temperatures. Hence the conductivity of the semiconductors lies between that of insulators and good conductors. The conductivity in semiconductors can also be brought out by adding some impurities which is known as doping.
