To explain:
The relationship between senescence and cytokinins.
Introduction:
The senescence in plants is the procedure of aging in plants. Plants exhibit both age-associated and stress-induced developmental aging. In plants, senescence performs an essential function of recycling nutrients, mainly nitrogen, to storage and developing organs of the plant. The programmed senescence appears to be hugely affected by the plant hormones, like cytokinins that help to sustain the cell of the plant delays the process of senescence in leaf.
The cytokinins are a group of phytohormones, which encourage cytokinesis, or division of the cell, in plant shoots and roots. They take part mainly in cell differentiation and growth, but also affect axillary bud growth, apical dominance, and senescence in leaf. There is an inverse relationship between the process of senescence and the plant hormone cytokinins.
