The difference between the exocrine and endocrine functions of the pancreas.

Introduction:

Pancreas, a long-flattened gland, is situated deep in the abdominal cavity, behind the stomach. It is divisible into the head which is the widest part of the pancreas, the uncinate process hooks around the superior mesenteric artery and the superior mesenteric vein. The neck comprises a thin section between the head and the body with the body being the middle part. The thin tip of the pancreas is referred to as the tail. The head of the organ lies in the curve of the duodenum, whereas the tapered end lies near the spleen. The pancreas is composed of two types of glands, namely, exocrine and endocrine.
