Introduction:
The mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids are both corticosteroids released from the adrenal cortex in the adrenal gland. The adrenal cortex occupies 80% of the adrenal gland and occupies the exterior of the gland. It consists of three regions, namely, Zona glomerulosa, Zona fasciculate, and Zona reticularis.
Zona glomerulosa is primarily responsible for producing mineralocorticosteroids, responsible for regulation of blood pressure and electrolytes.
