Sexual selection is driving force for reproductive success. It favours or helps in formation of characters that improves and ensures reproductive success. Biologically, the two main aims of life are to survive and reproduce. The characters that sexual selection develops are physically expensive which is against the principles of natural selection Thus, at times natural selection (favoring survival) and sexual selection (favoring reproduction) work against each other. Although they settle somewhere in the middle.
