Chapter 20, Problem 10RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
Whether the following statement, “Approximately 0.3 mL of O2 is physically dissolved in every 100 mL of the blood for each PaO2 increase of 100mm Hg,” is true or false.
Introduction:
Certain kinds of pathological conditions related to low level of oxygen are treated with administration of 100% (percent) oxygen at an increased pressure. This kind of therapeutic treatment is known as hyperbaric medicine. The patients are subjected to a hyperbaric chamber which helps in increasing the level of oxygen in the body tissues, but with some disadvantages.
