Normal Balance:

A normal balance refers to either a debit or a credit balance for particular type of account based on its classification within the chart of accounts. It is also known as usual balance for a particular account, even though at times it can show an opposite balance depending upon the transactions. An asset account shows a normal debit balance while a liability account shows a normal credit balance and a stockholders’ equity account shows a credit balance.
