Introduction

Neurons are responsible for sending messages across the body and brain. There are different types of neurons. Afferent neurons are responsible for detecting sensations and reporting those sensations to the brain to be interpreted. Efferent neurons are responsible for taking those interpretations back to the muscles and other body parts so we can react appropriately.
