Introduction

War has been a social problem since our ancestors adopted a sedentary agricultural lifestyle. The control of land and resources has long been one cause of war. I would use the conflict paradigm to analyze modern motives for war to determine if they are still about the same old causes, or if profit has become a larger driver. The main variables would be how much profit is made and by whom in any given conflict, as well as unemployment rates for nations involved and not involved. Another variable would be the stated goal(s) of the conflict.
