Introduction
Large families tend to eat more quickly, passing food around the table so that everyone can get served. Catholic families pray in thanks before the meal. Jewish families have a traditional Sabbath dinner on Friday nights, and pray in thanks after the meal. We can draw parallels between praying and meals, no matter the sequence of events.
Explanation of Solution
Answer and explanation
Note: Answers to this question will vary, given the personal example that is requested.
An example of an appropriate answer follows: Growing up in a large Catholic family, dinner time was fast-paced and hectic. My father would pray over the meal after everyone was seated and quiet, then the platters of food would be passed around from left to right so everyone could get some. We mostly ate quickly and with little conversation. A friend of mine invited us to dinner to celebrate the Jewish Sabbath with his family, which begins on Friday night. The meal was very different, more relaxed, and with more conversation and prayers at specific times. Both traditions use prayer to show thankfulness around meals, and we discussed the similarities and differences as part of our dinner conversation.
