Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The season of the United States when it is summer in Australia

Answer to Problem 1QQ

Therefore the answer is Option (a)

Explanation of Solution

In the US, it will be winter whereas, in Australia, it will be summer. The rays of the sun fall directly on the Southern Hemisphere when the South Pole is slanted towards the sun and this results in the warmer longer days in the Southern Hemisphere. As the Northern Hemisphere away from, it will experience winter. Thus, When Australia faces the summer season it is winter in the United States.

Therefore the answer is Option (a)

It is not summer or spring in the United States but it is winterbecause the Northern Hemisphere is slotted awayfrom the sun. Therefore, option (b) and option ( c) will be incorrect.
