Strategic Planning: Strategic planning is an internal process which is important while developing a project. It helps to build up future, focusing on organizational goals, future growth of an organization and planning business objectives. So,basically strategic planning is beyond day to day activities and focusing on future goals.

Role of strategic planning in day to day business operation is as follows:

The top managers of an organization set business strategic goals and objectives. To fulfill those goals, the organization requires an information technology section which supports strategic goals.

The IT department has to keep doing technical work to handle information which is required for strategic planning for the future.It also helps in building communication between people in making business decisions, training of candidates, or accessing human resources.

To keep abreast with the demand for a product, proper strategic planning is required. It also helps to change the business environment and make it dynamic.

Importance of system analysts to understand a company’s strategic plans:

Strategic planning consists of a mission, vision, purpose and values of an organization. To accomplish an organization's mission, the organization needs information technology to solve technical issues. An organization’s mission focuses mainly on long-term challenges and goals.So, it is very important for system analysts to understand an organization’s strategic plan, to communicate requirements effectively between sponsors and IT team. System analysts evaluate feasibility study, fact-finding techniques, reporting to management and so on. IT team also develops websites, training of customer support system and so on.
