The force which completely balances the body weight, when it is at rest, is the support force. When a person measures weight by standing on the scale, he/she is actually reading the support force. As when an object is at rest or is stationary, then the support force will be numerically equal to the weight of the object. It means that while a person is standing on the scale, he/she is in state of restso the weight of a person will be the same as upward force.
