Introduction: Capillaries are thin-walled, microscopic vessels that interconnect the smallest arteries and veins. They are also referred to as exchange vessels as they are involved in the diffusion or exchange of nutrients, gases, and wastes between the blood and the interstitial fluids. The continuous and fenestrated capillaries are the two major types of capillaries.
