Explanation of Solution

Grants are primarily need-based, provided for students with financial hardship to pay for college.  Scholarships, on the other hand, are for students who have high academic grades.

Scholarships for undergraduates are sponsored by:

  • Colleges and Universities
  • Corporations
  • Professional Organizations
  • Charitable Foundations
  • Federal, State and Local Government Agencies.

There are couple of types of scholarships one can go for

  1. Subject-specific scholarship
  2. Student-specific scholarship

Subject-specific undergraduate scholarships are offered by groups associated with your field of study. Some of them are:

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA): They provide annual scholarships for accounting degree candidates. A student must have earned 30 hours of academic credits and has to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Corporate sponsors such as Siemens Foundation provides scholarship for engineering and other STEM subjects for undergraduate students.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) provides annual scholarship for Mechanical Engineering students. This is based on academic excellence and participating in ASME.

SAE International Scholarship Program provides scholarship to engineering and other STEM students based on high academic records

National Society of Professional Engineers  sponsors several undergraduate scholarships.  Some memorial awards are reserved for specific student groups like women (Auxiliary Legacy Scholarship), and juniors (Steinman Scholarship).

Student-specific scholarships are based on ethnic diversity, disability, gender and a host of other personal characteristics. Some of them are listed below:

Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for undergraduate students of Asian descent

American Indian Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for Native Americans to graduate from college.

African American students studying engineering and other STEM subjects can get undergraduate scholarships from Microsoft.

Some of the Grants available are:

Federal Pell Grants: Usually awarded only to undergraduate students who are in very much financial need and have not earned their bachelor's degree.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG): This is also for undergraduate students with high financial need.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant: It is different from above grants as it requires the student to take certain classes in order to get the grant, and also do a job pertaining to it. Or else the grant might turn into a loan.

A crude oil of specific gravity0.85 flows upward at a volumetric rate of flow of 70litres per second through a vertical venturimeter, with an inlet diameter of 250 mm and a throat diameter of 150mm. The coefficient of discharge of venturimeter is 0.96. The vertical differences betwecen the pressure toppings is 350mm. i) Draw a well labeled diagram to represent the above in formation  i) If the two pressure gauges are connected at the tapings such that they are positioned at the levels of their corresponding tapping points, determine the difference of readings in N/CM² of the two pressure gauges   ii) If a mercury differential manometer is connected in place of pressure gauges, to the tappings such that the connecting tube up to mercury are filled with oil determine the difference in the level of mercury column.
Can you solve it analytically using laplace transforms and with Matlab code as well please. Thank You
