Explanation Electrochemistry is the study of the relation between electric energy and chemical change Oxidation is the process whereby reactant loses one more electrons Reduction is the process whereby reactant gains one more electrons Oxidation and reduction are simultaneous process and is called redox Reaction Electrochemistry involves either the use of an oxidation reduction reaction to produce an electric c current or the use of an electric current to produce an oxidation reduction reaction. Batteries and fuel cells converts chemical energy in to electrical energy Electrochemical cell is a device which generating energy from chemical reaction . For example Galvanic cell or voltaic cell A galvanic cell or voltaic cell is electrochemical cell that producing electrical energy from redox reaction taking place within the cell. A voltaic cell consists of two containers, in these both containers electrodes are dipped (one container with anode electrode and another container containing cathode electrode) with corresponding electrolytes. A voltaic cell is called “battery” if one container is used instead of two containers.
