Answer to Problem 18.1CTDQ

The government spends the highest cost in controlling the water pollution by investing in different project at national level, after that private companies spend approximately ten times less cost than the government and an individual can spend very less cost approximately 7080 times less than the private companies.

Explanation of Solution

In controlling the water pollution, government plays an important role. The treatments that are used to improve the quality of water are sometimes very costly, thus, the government pays the highest costs for the treatment of polluted water. For example, under the clean water act, the United States has spent more than 180 billion dollars in public fund.

The private companies only controls the water pollution in their particular area due to which they spend very less cost approximately ten times less than the government.

An individual can control the water pollution at his/her own level like at home or working area. That individual can spend very less cost approximately 7080 times less than the private companies by putting small scale water purifiers and water treatment sources at his/her home and working areas.
