The substance abuse is taking of illicit drugs that are termed to be illegal and getting addicted to it. The illicit drugs are a form of psychotherapeutic drugs when it used for pleasure purposes and it is regarded as drug abuse. The abusive cause psychological and physical problems and death occur due to overdose.

The substance abuse affects mostly all ages and sex, due to its psychological impact of feeling good and pleasurable and that makes to get addicted to it. Habituation to the certain drug is also a form of substance abuse since they get addicted to it and crave for the drug. In America, mostly teens and young adults get affected by substance abuse. In America, the teens are more prone to the use of illicit drugs (for example, tobacco) and the use of illicit drugs are raised in 2002. The marijuana is an illicit drug that can be smoked or eaten. In the United States, use of marijuana is seen in teens that are found to be higher than cigarette smokers and alcohol abusers. Also, the use of cocaine and heroin are very high. HIV and hepatitis B are common among drug addicts who share needles, hence AIDS-affected individuals are also seen higher in the country.
The substance abuse affects mostly teens and young adults in the America and causes serious health problems.
