A project manager must require both the skills of a manger and a leader because each skill will aid the manager in different situations.
Some of the management skills are:
- Managing the task so that they are carried out in the preferred sequence and to reach the performance goals.
- Human resources, so that persons working on it will have directions and motivation.
- Effective communication must be followed, so that the information is passed to all members.
- Quality in the objectives achieved.
Some of the leadership skills are:
- The competence of the manager to handle changes.
- The manager must be capable to decide what is to be change and when it must be changed.
- The skill to handle unforeseen or unwanted changes.
- The ability to persuade and work with others to finish projects and achieve goals.
