Reduction potential of chemical species measures the tendency of this species to acquire electrons. Reduction potential measures in volts or millivolts. Every species has its own intrinsic reduction potential. A species with higher reduction potential means species has greater tendency to gain electrons and species with a lower reduction potential indicates species has greater tendency to lose electrons.
