Introduction:
Testosterone is a steroid hormone produced by the testes, the male reproductive organs. It is a hydrophobic hormone and can easily pass the plasma membrane. It binds to the intracellular receptors to carry out the gene expression. Although it is a male hormone, testosterone is also produced in females in small amounts. Estrogen is another steroid hormone that is produced in the ovaries of females. It is also secreted in males in some amount.
